Top 5 tips for thinning hair

Are you noticing more hair accumulating in your shower drain? Or perhaps your hairbrush has more hair in it than usual? Maybe you just can’t even run your fingers through it without bringing a few hair strands along with you? If you’re reading this right now the chances are that you’ve noticed that your hair is thinning.

We’ve highlighted 5 reasons as to why your hair might be thinning, and 5 solutions to restore your hair!

  1. Turn down the heat

This may be one you’ve heard many times, however, it doesn’t make it any less true! Heat damage removes the water and moisture from the hair shaft. While it might not cause it to fall from the root, it will increase the chances of splits end and it becoming brittle and breaking.

So you know what’s coming next. Reduce the amount of heat you use on your hair where you can. Use warm water whilst washing your hair and let it air dry. Treat yourself to a blow dry when you’re going out for an occasion and/or ditch the curling tong for rollers. Start making little changes, they soon add up.

      2) Check your diet

When there’s something wrong with the inside, it usually reflects on the outside, so keeping an eye on what we eat may help us out in this situation!

Hair nourishing foods are usually rich in protein! Protein is great for your hair, after all, that’s what your hair is made from. Omega 3 is also a superfood for your hair so oily fish like salmon is a great addition to your diet. It doesn’t stop there, vegetables, eggs, nuts and lean meats are also great. If you’re not a big fan of fish then you could always opt for fish oil supplements!

       3) Stop stressing and relax

Stress is a part of life that comes and goes, but let’s not let it get us down. It’s just ironic that our hair falling out causes more stress. Due to stress being able to affect things like sleep patterns, hormones and your appetite, it’ll also have a negative effect on your hair because those things alone, are enough to cause thinning hair and fall out.

You just need to relax. Talking of relaxation, how do you prefer to relax? It might be going to the gym and focusing your mind on something else, or having a chat over a cup of tea with your best friend.         4) Are your follicles blocked?
