The Health Benefits of Chocolate

A little bit of what you fancy does you good & studies have shown that chocolate can help you loose weight, have better skin & make you feel good.

Don't go rushing for the big box of truffles just yet though, as in order to get the best out of your cocoa you should be eating chocolate with at least 70% cocoa, otherwise it won't work. Dark chocolate is packed with beneficial minerals such as potassium, zinc and selenium all of which can provide your body with essential and restorative nutrients.

There are obvious therapeutic benefits to treating yourself to something delicious. It boosts our mood, makes us feel comforted and releases endorphins in the brain, but there are plenty of other benefits that perhaps you may not have heard about.

Here are the top 5 reasons why you should be reaching for a square of dark chocolate to help you feel good, look good and live longer.

1. Chocolate can be good for you heart

A recent study found that dark chocolate helps restore flexibility to arteries, which can be helpful in preventing symptoms that lead to heart disease, as well as this researchers in Finland found that it could also help reduce the risk of a stroke.

2. It's skin food

Chocolate contains flavonols, which can help protect the skin against sun damage, but don't skip the SPF as you'll still need to choose a moisturiser with protection to guard against harmful UV rays that lead to premature ageing.

3. It can help you loose weight

Honestly, trust us on this one. Studies have shown that slowly eating a square of dark chocolate can release hormones in the brain that tell you're body you're full faster. This means you're less likely to overeat, and can cut down on between meal snacking.

4. It's good for the brain

Flavanols (those same things that can help protect your skin) are also thought to reduce memory loss in older people. Prevention is always better than a cure, so what are you waiting for? You should probably start getting your daily fix now...!
5. It's feel good food

Chocolate contains phenylethylamine (PEA), which is the same chemical that your brain creates when you feel like you’re falling in love.

Want to supercharge your chocolate consumption? For extra benefits you could try a delicious dark chocolate that is enriched with collagen to help boost skin elasticity. Our exclusive new brand Supermood have designed a raw chocolate (the best kind) containing your daily dose of high-quality firming collagen. The main ingredients are hand-picked natural Finnish Chaga and the Liftonin® Xpress compound. These make the products easily absorbed, produce a tightening effect and give them their power-drop characteristics. Chaga is a fungus that grows on the bark of arctic trees, namely on birch. It contains huge amounts of antioxidants and has been used as a folk remedy for centuries to rejuvenate skin and even out skin pigments.

Try it and fall in love here.
