  • How To: Pack Your Beauty Essentials For a Weekend Break

July 08, 2015

Weekend breaks can be the ultimate summer treat. Allowing you to get out of the hectic buzz of the city for a few days to rest and recoup, and get some serious pamper time. If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off somewhere for a few days of much needed rest and relaxation, the last thing you need is the stress of last minute packing. A little bit of preparation, organisation and the right beauty products can seriously ease your pre holiday anxiety.

Here are some of our best tips, and product recommendations which will ensure you keep calm with your carry on.

1) Know your limits.

If you’re only jetting away for a long weekend, you might want to stick to taking a well stocked carry on bag. One small, chic roll away bag = less stress at check in, a breezy arrival and no extortionate baggage fees. As there are such strict rules on how much liquid you can bring through airport security it’s worth remembering that your containers must hold no more than 100ml and be stored in a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag, which holds no more than a litre (measuring approximately 20cm x 20cm) It’s tempting to pack in as much as possible, but we warned, everything must fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be sealed.

2) Pamper Products Are Allowed

When your limited space is precious, it’s easy to think that you have to only pick the bare essentials, and restrict yourself to a meagre selection of products, leaving no room for luxury items and bath time treats. If you pick wisely though, you can squeeze in a few home comforts. This collection of Essential Travel Minis from Arran Aromatics will leave you feeling refreshed, tired skin revived and senses uplifted with the following combination of fabulous fragrances. Indulge in grapefruit & Shea Butter, Rosemary & Sage, Mandarin & Mint and Lavender & Lemongrass.

3) Use The Brands You Love

Your favourite brands might have travel versions of your favourite products, which means that you can bring some of your best loved bits away with you, without worrying about leakage and loss. This Sea Kelp Collection from the Scottish Fine Soaps Company is a zingy, refreshing selection of miniatures that boasts a great has body wash, body butter and hand cream all at a luggage friendly 75ml.

4) Get Skincare Savvy

To save space, pick clever products that will go the extra mile for you. If you’re someone who usually has a very involved skincare routine, why not consider stripping it back and getting creative? This Nipple Balm from Dr Lipp is a fantastic all rounder. A multiple action must-have for your make-up bag will fix dry cracked skin. You can use it as the ultimate beauty balm for pre lipstick priming, cheek shine, eyebrow taming, glossy eyes, cuticle/nail care or every day for beautiful luscious glossy lips. If you’re looking for something completely luxurious, Suki Skincare’s nourishing facial oil is suitable for all skin types, and small enough to fit into your carry on with no problems.

5) Experiment

Well... as if you need an excuse to buy yourself some goodies, but we'll give you one! Holiday can be a great time to revive a tired beauty routine and introduce some new products. Miniatures are a great way to sample new brands that could end up being firm favourites in the future. The Discovery Kit from Resultime is the perfect size for sampling. There’s just enough to get a good idea of how well the products work with your skin, but not too much that it feels like a commitment. After all, we've all got products left cluttering up our bathroom cabinets that haven't quite worked for us. All products are under 100ml too, so perfect for the plane.
