4 Plants With Incredible Healing Properties

Nature has so much to offer us when it comes to beauty. Though it's not a new trend, there has been a rise in the use of natural and organic formulations in modern skincare as we see brands taking inspiration from the natural world and formulating active skincare solutions using medicinal plants and herbs.

Here are a few of our favourite plants which can have powerful beauty properties.

1. Rose

Rose and rosewater has been used in healing for centuries. Not only does it smell delicious, but it has antibacterial and antioxidant properties which help keep blemishes away as well as aiding the healing of scars.

If you're interested in incorporating rose into your skincare routine, we recommend Suti Skincare's range of rose powered potions to get you started.

The Rose Water Organic Facial Spritz  soothes and protects the skin. To apply, just spritz over face and neck and allow to absorb. Use after cleansing for best results.

2. Yarrow

Yarrow is sometimes known as Soldier's Wound Wort due to it's healing properties. It's an astringent which means it was used to reduce bleeding from minor abrasions but its benefits aren't limited to the battlefield. Yarrow tea is said to help alleviate symptoms of coughs and colds, and when applied topically can aid skin healing.

Yarrow is used in one of our favourite cleansing balms. MOA's 'The Green Balm' which is a fantastic make up remover and wonder product. Keep a tub handy in your bag for minor cuts and scrapes and to soothe, nourish and renew dry, itchy skin conditions, bumps & bites.

3. Lavender

Known for its use in sleep remedies, lavender is antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory, so using it topically will aid skin in healing and renew itself.
If you do find it hard to drift off though, it can help you catch that all important beauty sleep.

Check out Supermood's Beauty Sleep Sweet Pillow Scent. This calming and therapeutic scent, which can be sprayed onto your linen before bedtime, can help to ease you into the land of nod. The better you sleep, the better your skin.

4. Nettle

That awful plant that ruins summer days by giving you sore red bumps if you touch it? Really?

What a lot of people don't know is that this plant is rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and silica, which is essential to cell rejuvenation and could be the key to more youthful skin. When broken down and used in cosmetics, this irritable little plant can be a miracle.

We certainly don't recommend rubbing it on your face though!
